Cincinnati Business Courier: Ensemble Still Hiring Hundreds During Pandemic

A fast-growing Greater Cincinnati health care company is looking to fill 250 local jobs – and more than 800 across the U.S. – as it continues to help its clients navigate the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ensemble Health Partners, a revenue cycle firm that works with providers to improve financial outcomes and patient experiences, is looking to fill at least 800 jobs by the end of the year. About 250 are based in the Cincinnati area, officials said, and those associates will eventually report to the firm’s new Blue Ash headquarters.

Positions include customer service, patient access, pre-access and accounts receivable. Openings are in Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, New Jersey, Virginia, Arkansas, Idaho and South Carolina, with the potential to work remotely. Most roles require at least one year of customer service experience, preferably in the health care industry.

Ensemble is conducting the job interviews via video conferencing. Upon hiring, virtual training will be provided.

Ensemble declined to share the average salary for the new roles. However, the company is offering almost immediate employment and benefits, Christy Barnum, Ensemble’s interim chief people officer, said in a release. The new jobs will not only support its health care clients but their respective communities. The health care industry is facing unprecedented financial challenges, while many cities are experiencing heavy job losses amid the pandemic.

“We understand the burden they’re facing right now,” Barnum said.

Ensemble partners with more than 30 clients – including Mercy Health and Christ Hospital – and more than 350 facilities across the U.S. to help health systems improve financial performance, the billing process and customer service. Ensemble review insurance eligibility and submits bills to payers, but also ensures that medical services are coded properly and fields questions about billing from patients.

Ensemble has experienced exponential growth since its founding in 2014, the company said, and now employs more than 5,000 across the country.

That’s up from the 200 employees in 2016, when it was acquired by Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health for $60 million.

In August 2019, Bon Secours Mercy Health sold 51% of Ensemble to Golden Gate Capital of San Francisco, a private equity firm, for a reported $1.2 billion in cash. Bon Secours Mercy Health retains minority ownership.

Ensemble’s new headquarters, located at 11511 Reed Hartman Highway, is nearing completion, said Kendall Herold, public relations manager. The company is renovating 300,000 square feet of existing space while building an additional 100,000 square feet on the 54-acre campus. The site was formerly a Procter & Gamble research and development complex.

About 2,000 employees based at that office are working remotely, with about 40 onsite.
